Is the Motion Lab plugin free?

Yes. Motion Lab is free to install from the Roblox Creator Store. You spend NoCapMocap credits only when you make a new animation. You can import an animation that you already made, and that costs nothing.

Do I need a NoCapMocap account?

Yes. You need an account to load your History and Library, and to make animations in Studio. Open the Settings tab in the plugin and click Connect account. Then approve the short code in your browser. Without a connected account, the History and Library tabs stay empty.

Which characters does it work with?

Any R15 character. Choose Roblox before you generate, and your animation fits R15. Then it works on a standard R15 character or on a rig from Avatar Setup, and you can preview it in Studio. R6 characters do not work for now.

Can I make animations inside Studio, or only import them?

Both. You can type a move or add a video in the plugin. You can also import a Roblox R15 animation that you made on the website. Then put it on your character with one click.

The plugin says HTTP is off. What do I do?

Turn on Allow HTTP Requests under File → Experience Settings → Security. Then connect again from the Settings tab in the plugin. If Studio says it blocked Motion Lab from a domain, go to Plugins → Manage Plugins instead. There, allow HTTP requests for Motion Lab.

Do I have to use the plugin?

No. You can copy a Roblox R15 animation on the website, and paste it in Studio with the community RBXMonkey - Blender Animations plugin. That is still a plugin, but it is not ours. Want an FBX for Unity, Unreal or Blender? Choose Humanoid before you generate. That works with or without Motion Lab.

Can I use the animations in my commercial Roblox game?

Yes, ship it. We do not claim ownership of what you make, so you can use it in personal and commercial projects. Surge and Surge Lite animations have location limits. The Terms of Service explain them.

Install Motion Lab
Get NoCapMocap Motion Lab from the Roblox Creator Store. Then open Roblox Studio, or restart it, so the plugin loads.

Connect your account
Open the NoCapMocap toolbar and click Motion Lab. Then click Connect account. If Studio asks to let Motion Lab connect to nocapmocap.com, click Allow. If the plugin says HTTP requests are off, turn on Allow HTTP Requests under File → Experience Settings → Security. Then approve the short code in your browser. This links your NoCapMocap account.

Make or import an animation
Type a move or add a video in the plugin. Or open the History or Library tab, and pick an animation you made on the website.

Put it on your character
Select your R15 character in the Workspace. Click Preview on rig to watch the animation play. Then click Save to rig to edit it in the Animation Editor. Or click Upload to publish it to your Roblox account. Roblox gives it a number, called an Animation ID, and your game uses that number to play it.
